What the Wired is for, and what it is not
A terminal that never moves does not need a battery, and the Wired does not have one. It runs off the mains at 163.7 x 76.9 x 30.1mm and 260g, small enough to sit beside a till without taking the counter over. The practical gain is that nobody has to remember to dock it at closing time, which is the usual reason a portable terminal is flat at nine on a Saturday morning.
It still carries 4G behind the Wi-Fi. A fixed terminal on a shop network is only as reliable as the router, and the automatic switch to mobile data is what keeps a till taking payments through a broadband outage. In a convenience shop at seven in the evening that matters more than any rate on the quote.
Rental sits inside the package we quote and the rate is set against your card turnover. The floor under any UK rate is interchange, capped at 0.2% on consumer debit and 0.3% on consumer credit under the Interchange Fee Regulation since 9 December 2015 and enforced by the Payment Systems Regulator. A convenience store taking mostly consumer debit sits close to that floor. A trade counter taking business cards does not, because commercial cards fall outside the caps.
Some arithmetic for a fixed till. A shop taking £25,000 a month with an average basket of £8 puts roughly 3,100 card payments through one terminal every month. At that volume 0.1% on the rate is £25 a month, and a 1p change in a per-item charge is £31. Both lines are worth reading, and only one of them is usually advertised.
Where the Wired is the wrong terminal: table service and anything that has to leave the counter. The £100 contactless limit per tap and the £300 cumulative limit before a PIN apply here exactly as they do on every other UK terminal, because they are set by the card issuer and not by the machine.

Can the Dojo Wired work without Wi-Fi?
Yes. It has built-in 4G as a backup. If your Wi-Fi drops, it automatically switches to 4G so you keep taking payments without interruption.
Is the Wired suitable for a self-service kiosk?
It is designed for exactly this. The 4-inch touchscreen is clear and easy to use, and because it is mains powered, it runs indefinitely without staff intervention. Mount it at a counter or kiosk for unattended payments.
Can I connect it to my EPOS or till system?
The Wired integrates with EPOS systems via cloud connection. We check compatibility with your specific setup before you commit and handle the configuration.
