How it works

A straightforward four-step process, from first enquiry to completion.

1.

Complete a short form

3 minutes

Share basic business details so we can understand your requirements, including:

  • Business name and trading history
  • Monthly card sales turnover
  • Amount of funding required
  • What you'll use the funds for
2.

We check your details

Same day

We look at your profile and identify lenders from our panel that may be suitable. We consider:

  • Your monthly revenue and card sales
  • Time in business (minimum 3 months)
  • Your funding requirements
  • Repayment capacity based on turnover
3.

Your account manager calls you

24-48 hours

Your dedicated CapExpand account manager calls you to walk through:

  • Your indicative funding amount (subject to lender approval)
  • Repayment terms and structure
  • Total cost of the funding - no surprises
  • Any questions, however small
4.

Funds land in your account

Set by the lender

After you accept an offer, the lender transfers funds directly to your business account:

  • Many lenders advertise same-day payout once approved
  • Funds commonly arrive within days of applying
  • One fixed fee agreed upfront - no compounding interest
  • Repayments taken as a small percentage of your daily card sales

What step two actually involves

“We check your details” means matching what you have told us against published lender criteria before anything is submitted. Those criteria are duller and stricter than most adverts suggest. Funding Circle asks for two years of trading, one year of filed or formally prepared accounts, three months of business bank statements, and a director guarantee on every unsecured loan, and publishes rates from 6.9% a year on £10,000 to £750,000. 365 Finance sets its bar at six months of trading with £10,000 a month of average card sales. Capify wants twelve months and £10,000 a month of turnover. Novuna, on asset finance, wants three years and normally a 10% deposit.

We are matching against a panel of 200+ lender brands and 1,800+ live products across eight categories, over a scope of £5,000 to £25 million. 55 write unsecured business loans, 38 write asset finance, 20 write invoice finance and 53 write bridging. Panel checked September 2026.

Price context helps at step three, when your account manager walks through the cost. The Bank of England Bank Rate has been 3.75% since 18 December 2025, a level every 2026 vote has left alone. HMRC charges 7.75% on late tax from 9 January 2026. A merchant cash advance carries no rate at all, only a fixed fee, which is why the comparison that works is total repayable over the months you will realistically need the money.

Two honest caveats. Meeting a published minimum is not an approval, because every lender still underwrites the case in front of it. And a decline is a lender-fit answer rather than a market verdict, which is the whole reason we check the criteria before an application leaves the building rather than after. All lender figures read on their own sites on 7 September 2026.
