Coach, bus and minibus finance
A coach is a six-figure asset that earns on a contract base and depreciates on a timetable, and lenders treat it accordingly. 30 of the 38 asset finance lenders on our panel fund coaches and buses. What narrows the list is the age of the vehicle, who you are buying it from, and whether you need the VAT deferred.
We introduce limited companies and LLPs to the lenders whose PSV criteria fit the vehicle, your licence and your contract base. Free to you, and nothing goes anywhere without your say-so.

Counts are distinct lenders on our panel with at least one live product matching the criterion, checked September 2026. Panel composition changes over time, and meeting a criterion is not an offer: every case is subject to the lender's own checks.
Where coach deals are decided
Age and mileage
The agreement has to end while the vehicle still has resale value. Lenders set a maximum age at the end of term, so a ten-year-old coach on a five-year agreement is a different conversation from a three-year-old one.
Contracts
School runs, local authority and rail replacement work are recurring income lenders can underwrite. Private hire and tours are seasonal, and some lenders will shape the repayments to the season rather than decline.
Compliance
O-licence, transport manager, PSVAR accessibility and Clean Air Zone status. A vehicle that cannot work in the zones your contracts run through is a resale risk, and lenders price it that way.
Seller and inspection
Dealer stock opens the whole panel. An operator-to-operator sale narrows it and adds an inspection, but it is done every week and the price is often better.
A note on who we take on
We currently work with UK limited companies and LLPs only, for business and commercial purposes. We complete non-regulated introductions and are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.
The panel behind this page
Coach and bus cases go to the 30 lenders on our asset finance panel of 38 that fund PSVs, part of 200+ lenders across all products. That range matters more than any single rate: the lender that suits a five-year-old limited company with clean accounts is rarely the one that suits a seasonal business or a director with a past blip, and a broker with a shallow panel has to force your case into whichever box it holds.
Names you may recognise on the panel
Examples from our panel as at September 2026, not an endorsement of any lender and not the full list. We check criteria first and put your case only to lenders whose requirements you fit. The full panel by product is in our lender directory, and how we choose is set out on our how we work page.
Frequently asked questions
How many lenders finance coaches and buses?▼
On our panel, 30 of the 38 asset finance lenders have a live product for coaches and buses, which makes PSVs a mainstream asset class rather than a specialist one. Figures checked September 2026; panel composition changes over time.
Can I finance a used coach?▼
Yes, and most coach deals are used. The field narrows with age: 15 lenders on our panel will fund an asset over ten years old, so a well-maintained executive coach from the last decade has plenty of takers and a twelve-year-old vehicle has a shorter list. Lenders size the term so the agreement ends before the vehicle's realistic working life does.
Can I buy from another operator rather than a dealer?▼
10 lenders on our panel will fund a purchase from a private seller, which is what an operator-to-operator sale is. Expect the lender to want an independent inspection and evidence of title, and to pay the seller directly on completion. Dealer purchases are simpler and open the whole coach panel.
Do I pay the VAT up front?▼
On hire purchase the VAT on the vehicle is normally due at the start, which on a £150,000 coach is a £30,000 cash call. 25 lenders on our panel offer VAT deferral, funding the VAT for the weeks until your return recovers it. On a finance lease the VAT is spread across the rentals instead.
What do lenders check for a coach operator?▼
The operator licence (standard national or international), the transport manager, the vehicle inspection history and the contract base. School and local authority contracts are strong evidence of recurring income; tour work is seasonal and lenders may ask for a repayment profile that follows it. Clean Air Zone and ULEZ compliance matters for any vehicle working in or around the zones, and a non-compliant vehicle is harder to finance and harder to resell.
Is coach finance regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority?▼
Hire purchase and leasing to a limited company or LLP for business use is generally unregulated. Finance to a sole trader can be different. CapExpand introduces limited companies and LLPs on a non-regulated basis and is not an FCA-authorised firm.
